LAKE ISEO, A WEALTH OF TREASURES

Places untouched by time. Two coasts that look so different but compliment each other!

MONTISOLA. ITS HISTORY, ITS SARDINES, ITS SALAMIS!!!

Riding along one side of Lake Iseo, we will board the ferry with our bikes  and cross to the island to one of the villages which is considered to be one of the most beautiful villages of Italy. Montisola is the biggest inhabited lake island in Europe, once known for its production of fishing nets and today for the production of the LigurianGozzo (hand-made wooden boat), the delicious salami and sardines in oil. We will continue our tour by exploring this beautiful island. Want to get to the top of the island at 415 mtrs high, combining mountain and lake? Here on the summit we will find the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Ceriola.

After leaving from the main square in the Port of Lovere, you will cycle through the streets of the old town, including what was once the main street, discovering the delights of this beautiful Italian town, which is part of the group of the most beautiful towns and villages in Italy. Then, proceeding along a short stretch of asphalt road you will arrive at the mouth of the river Oglio, set amongst meadows and fields of corn. Immersed in greenery with the slow flow of the river at your side you can stop at a gravel-lake for a drink or even book a grilled lunch or taste the famous "casoncelli" or as the locals say: "Casonsèi".
